How Do Our Auctions Work?
Whether you're a first-time buyer or a seasoned seller exploring a new sales channel, understanding how the auction process works is the first step to a successful transaction.
At 5 Star Equine Sales, we've designed our process to be straightforward and secure for everyone involved.
For Sellers
It starts with you. Sellers submit their horses along with all required documentation: registration papers, health disclosure statements, x-rays, photos, and videos. This upfront transparency gives buyers the information they need to bid with confidence.
For Buyers
Once horses are listed, buyers can browse the catalog, review all documents and videos, contact sellers directly with questions, and arrange in-person viewings if desired. We encourage buyers to do their homework before bidding opens.
Bidding
When the auction goes live, buyers place their bids. You'll see whether each horse has a reserve price when you place a bid on that horse, and if your bid meets that reserve, you're the highest bidder. If not, more bids are needed to reach the seller's minimum.
Payment and Pickup
The winning bidder receives an invoice and pays through 5 Star Equine Sales. All funds go through us for everyone's protection. Once payment clears, the buyer arranges transport with the seller, and the seller receives their payment.
Simple as that.
A Note on Formats
Our auctions can be online, in-person, or hybrid depending on the event. We'll cover the differences in future posts, so stay tuned.
